Khanya is a versatile dancer with a passion for storytelling through movement. Her journey began with ballet at the age of six, and she has since explored various styles, including Afro, Hip Hop, Heels, Jazz, Commercial, Dancehall, and Cheerleading. Khanya has over 10 years of dance experience, and 3 years of teaching experience. And of all the styles she has explored, Afro dance is very dear to her heart. With a Zimbabwean cultural background, Khanya has grown up immersed in African culture, and enjoys sharing it with others.
Khanya is also a local Perth musician, who goes by the name ‘Princess Khanya’. Her involvement with the music scene has given her opportunities to work as a backup dancer for other artists in Perth, including Michael Kay and Soukouss Internationale. Khanya has choreographed for music videos featured on MTV and ABC Rage. Her love for diverse dance styles and expression through movement drives her creative process.
For Khanya, dance is not only a form of artistic expression but also a means to share culture, promote mental health, confidence, and self-expression. She believes that everyone has a story to tell, and dance provides a powerful platform to share those stories.
